Gaston County, NC becomes the latest government entity to deploy ‘Community’, a Citizen Engagement Toolset to make accessing and using County information easy. It’s a proactive solution for County Governments to create a ‘one stop shop’ of information to avoid Citizens having to navigate through lots of individual County websites.

Tax Administrator James Tanner commented, “Our goal was to implement the Community Program to coincide with our 2019 reappraisal notices to provide our property owners another option to research property data and information. We realized very quickly that it not only provided an outlet for researching information, but it was the favorite spot for our taxpayers to research comparable sales in their neighborhood due to this program being user friendly and very easy to maneuver around in. Even with our reappraisal resulting in an overall increase of 23 percent, our appeal volume is significantly less than expected and we believe it is directly related to the Community program which easily provides the sales information which supports our values.”
